Accountex is supporting the Women in Accountancy and Finance Awards 2020

As part of its push to promote diversity in the accounting and finance sector, Accountex is supporting the Women in Accountancy and Finance Awards 2020.

The awards, which will take place at the Hilton Bankside, London, on 6 May 2020, have been launched this year to help tackle discrimination and showcase the achievements of women in the profession.

“While accountants in practice, plus their counterparts in business and the third sector, have looked to build a more diverse and meritocratic profession, there is still a long way to go,” says Incisive Media, which launched the awards.

“Those who make it to the top are outstanding role models, but there are still far too few women leading practices or sitting on boards.

“These awards will honour the inspiring achievements of women across all parts of accountancy and will also help shape the discussion around how diversity can be improved within the sector.”

Accountex event porfolio director Zoe Lacey-Cooper is thrilled to be on the judging panel.  “There are lots of super talented women in the accounting and finance industry.  These awards represent a great opportunity to acknowledge some of the amazing work they do.

“There’s plenty of scope for further progress in the area of diversity but this is another great step in the right direction.  At Accountex we’ve made a big effort to encourage more women to speak at the event and will continue to do so via our Women Speak Out campaign for 2020.

“It would be great if some of the women in the awards would join us at ExCel next May, too. But, in the meantime, best of luck to all who are nominated!”
