Measure what matters with support for Xero Tracking Categories

March 4, 2020

By connecting Xero with Practice Ignition you can already automate your invoices in Xero, saving you hours on manual tasks each month. Now, we’ve brought Xero + Practice Ignition even closer together by adding support for Xero Tracking Categories.

If you’re on a Professional or Scale plan, you can now set tracking categories on your clients in Practice Ignition and they’ll automatically be included on your invoices.

Tracking categories lets you see how different areas of your business are performing, so you can make proactive business decisions.

Here’s a few examples of how you can use this new feature:

Multiple work locations

Let’s say you’re a business with two work locations and want to track sales for each location.

Here’s what you do:

  1. In Xero, you set up a tracking category (“Location”) with two tracking options - one for each location.
  2. In Practice Ignition, you then assign one of your two Location tracking options to a client.

The result:

From now on, every time Practice Ignition creates an invoice in Xero, it will automatically include the Location tracking option you set on that client. You can then use Tracking Categories in Xero to track sales for each location.

Multiple business partners

Let’s say you’re a business with multiple business partners and want to track sales for each partner.

Here’s what you do:

  1. In Xero, you set up a tracking category (“Partner”) with two tracking options - one for each partner.
  2. In Practice Ignition, you then assign one of your two Partner tracking options to a client.

The result:

From now on, every time Practice Ignition creates an invoice in Xero, it will automatically include the Partner tracking option you set on that client. You can then use Tracking Categories in Xero to track sales for each partner.

So by bringing Xero + Practice Ignition closer together you not only automate your client engagement and invoicing, but can easily measure what matters most to your business to improve performance.
