State of the Accounting Industry 2022
We’re close to wrapping our annual accounting industry study for Singapore and Hong Kong. The full results will be unveiled at Xero Roadshow Asia 2021.
Meanwhile, let’s take a look at some of the key findings, we learnt from the 2020 study:
- The top 15% of practices grew their revenue at a rate 2 to 3 times faster than the average firm.
- Singapore practices that make effective use of technology lowered their costs by 240 hours per client per year, while Hong Kong practices who have evolved to offering advisory services make almost 2.5 times more in advisory revenues.
- Singapore accounting practices who embrace technology and invest in staff training are 10% more likely to retain their staff, while Hong Kong practices that make effective use of technology have lowered their costs by as much as 269 hours per client per year.

Xero for industry verticals
Xero’s growing ecosystem of more than 1,000 connected apps are important enablers for our partners and their clients to scale and grow. Xero’s recent research report The Job Ahead: Small businesses and the global economic recovery, showed firms that used five or more business apps performed better than those with no apps. They grew their sales by 4.3% in the year to December 2020, while those without apps saw a decline of 3.4%. By providing app advisory, partners also enhance their service offerings and unlock additional revenue.
